iNaturlist is a global effort to document and protect our many species. It is an important tool for all of us to employ. Here is a bit from their website that explains it much better than I can: https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/about
Seek is a child app of iNaturalist that allows quick identification of species on your phone or mobile device.
Both iNaturlist and Seek are free apps available for both iOS and Android. By using this combination of apps, you can definitely make a difference in protecting our environment and allowing many different species to thrive. We have a serious problem if the Quarry in Melancthon is allowed to proceed. The fact is that we sit in the middle of a very important area that supports biodiversity beyond what you may think. There are many species here that have been nesting, living, burrowing, and thriving here for many many years. The threat of Silica dust settling on them from the proposed quarry is a very real problem and if not stopped, will result in the loss of many species in our area. It is already bad enough that only 1 to 2 percent of our wetlands still exist, without this quarry poisoning yet more.
Please download the following apps and watch the following videos to help us document the endangered species within our area.
NOTE: It is extremely important that you do not add any species to the NHIC project in iNaturalist unless it is on the at risk list.
